Our Story
In the early 20th century, the race to the South Pole was followed by all major media of the time. At around 3 pm on 14th December 1911, Roald Amundsen and four men raised a flag at the Pole, making history.
Yet we chose to honour two forgotten men – the crew members and ice pilots. Without their skill in navigating treacherous waters and adapting tools for survival, the team could not have been victorious. These two seamen at the back of the photo were Ludvig Hansen and Andreas Beck.
